Insight

Moms mentally track a rolling, ever-changing shopping list for their kids: current clothing sizes, upcoming birthdays and holidays, what their kid's friends might actually like for a goodie bag, etc. Generic list and notes apps aren't built for this specific shape of list: age-and-season-aware, gift-shaped, one per kid.

JTBD

I want a running, organized, up-to-date plan/tracker of things I need to buy for my kids (and for gifts) in what size, to take the mental load off.

The User

Moms of young kids juggling shopping for their own kids and their kids' friends' occasions. The trigger moment: a birthday, party, or season is coming up, and she needs to know what to get and in what size, fast.

The Product

Per-child folder profiles — name, birthday, auto-calculated age, photo, notes. A colored folder-tab per kid mirrors how moms already think about this ("my kid's stuff" vs. "their sibling's stuff").

Three planning categories per child: Gifts, Seasonal, Friends — matches the actual shapes of the job: an upcoming occasion, a season or size change, a friend's party. Not one undifferentiated to-do list.

Curated + AI-generated recommendations — a hand-curated age-by-gender lookup table, plus Gemini-generated picks that factor in age, gender, season (auto-detected from timezone/hemisphere), and freeform notes. System promp is instructed to surface products "loved by parents," for the trustworthy feel of advice from an experienced mom rather than generic AI suggestions.

Checklists per card — check off items, add custom ones, so the recommendation list becomes an actionable shopping list.

Scrapbook customization — drag-and-drop stickers and a Polaroid-style photo header gives a warm and whimsical feeling.

Mom's Treats — a separate wishlist tab for the mom herself. Paste a product URL and the app auto-fetches an image, title, and price preview.

Anonymous-first with seamless migration — usable instantly via local storage, auto-migrated to a full account on sign-up, so there's no signup tax before getting value.

What's different: it isn't a generic list or notes app repurposed for shopping. It understands shopping-for-kids specifically — ages, sizes, seasons, occasions, trustworthy product picks — instead of handing back a blank list and expecting the mom to bring all that structure herself.

Built with:

  • React + TypeScript + Vite, shadcn/ui (Radix) and Tailwind for the UI, built rapidly in Lovable
  • Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Storage) with Row Level Security; anonymous local-storage-first usage that migrates to an account on sign-up
  • Google Gemini API for AI-generated, season- and age-aware product recommendations
  • A custom Supabase Edge Function that scrapes Open Graph and JSON-LD product data to power the "Mom's Treats" link previews
